Dear Madam,
The Vice-Chancellor, Mr. D. J. Sloss, tells me that the
Government has allotted a sum of money for the settlement, in
part at least, of the salaries of former members of the Hong
Kong University teaching staff.
My application has already gone forward.
I should be
very glad if a draft could be made out in favour of my father,
Thomas H. MacKenzie, Esq.,
8, College Drive, Port Elizabeth, South Africa.
I am particularly anxious that the amount should not be
sent to Australia, as currency restrictions are at present very
hampering and would prevent my using the money outside the
Commonwealth.
Thanking you in anticipation,
I am,
Yours faithfully,
(Sgd) Norman H. MacKenzie,
(Former Lecturer in English, University of Hong Kong).
